Is it just me, or is Civ:BTS AI worse than Beta:Civ4?

The AI now cheats more then ever, cranking out impossible amounts of units, instantly upgrading them all with tech changes, and getting an impossibly high amount of resources by cranking out 15 specialists in a city that somehow doesnt reduce in population even though its starving.

It took them 4 patches to fix the "AI gangbanging" that they used to do, where 3-4 civs would declare war on you at once... well guess what, thats back.

This expansion isnt worth $20 imo

Unless you never play with the PC.

They screwed things up like crazy with the BTS AI. Frankly, I'm kind of impressed with how much damage they did.

At first i thought i just sucked with all the new features put in, but after doing some research its pretty obvious that the AI cheats its ass off now. To the point where its not even fun to play.

Im really saddened that they hosed this expansion so badly :(

Im going to go play a classic game now and actually enjoy it.

I liked BTS myself.

The AI has never gangbanged on me, as you say. What has happened though, smaller nations will become vassals to larger nations and as I target one of those smaller nations for my own expansion, the others are all brought into the fray.

Skacer, Acanthus, you two seem to badmouth every game released for something. Perhaps you should abandon gaming altogether?

...

You're not even contributing to the discussion. If you don't mind that the AI and the player are playing within different parameters, that's fine, but that's a pretty lame comment to make.

On the contrary.

I love civ4, i love quake wars, i love neverwinter nights, dark age of camelot, and freespace 1 and 2, bioshock, max payne, max payne 2, FEAR, Sacrifice, Portal, Counterstrike and CS:S, and last but not least, TF2.

I dont like:
-Beta quality shit i have to pay for (95% of new titles, including the BTS expansion)
-Sequels to games that add nothing to gameplay
-The downward trend in replayablility and game length

#3 is understandable as games are getting exponentially more complex to produce.

There is absolutely no excuse for #1 and #2.

BTS wasn't beta quality at all. Compare what it offered to what Warlords offered, BTS was a much better expansion.

The main thing I want from Civ4 is the ability to land on other planets and begin colonizing them, with the game map changing as the planet is terraformed. I don't see that happening though.

New features dont matter if the AI doesnt work properly...

Which difficulty did you play? I usually play on noble because I am a noob and I haven't experienced AI gangbanging. On the contrary, I have manipulated other civs into helping me decimate my enemies.

Ive been playing on noble.

Today i got attacked while i was #1 score, #1 size, #1 tech, #2 military by an AI with +16 faction/relations whatever the hell you call it.

It just makes no sense, the AI does really stupid things now.

AI has been a problem with me since Civ3. It seems the AI cheats to the point its no longer fun as someone else mentioned in this forum post.

If you have 3 top units defending a town, it seems about 6 AI attackers can take it over. If 3 top units were defnding an enemy town, you need about 12 attackers to take it over.

Along with the AI ESP (automatically knowing which towns are least defended), gang banging, it just isn't fun.

I used to have that problem, then I learned which units counter what, and what upgrades to choose to take out certain units. Makes it much more complicated than simply buying up raw recruits like candy. When you lose a high level veteran 'specialist' though, it can be devastating to the war effort.

I've never been attacked by my closest allies though. Relations will deteriorate as I consume the factions around them, or make them my vassals.

Corporations are in need of a major revamp as well (at least when I played it when it first shipped).
