Question Is it just me or is Android Firefox so slow?

It's something I've kind of always just put up with, but the more I think of it, this can't be normal. Is there a way to speed it up? Initial loading of web pages, even local ones, is always super slow. Takes a good 5-10 seconds for it to load. It's like if it has trouble resolving local hostnames or something. But it's slow for external stuff too, it just seems more pronounced for local stuff as on the computer the same page loads instantly while on the phone I have to wait, and wait, and wait, until it finally starts to load. If the page is already open then it's instant, but if I'm opening it from new, that's when it's slow. The little blue line starts fast, then just sits at about 1/10 the way, and sits there for a good 5 seconds, before it finally loads. Is there a way to speed this up? My phone is a Blackberry DTEK 50. In general I find it's been sluggish actually, so it might not be just Firefox, but that's the one that's the most noticeable. The Weather Network is bad too. By the time it tells me the weather I have time to just go outside and check lol.

3gb ram at least for the phone.. should be OK..

Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)ChipsetQualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 (28 nm)CPUOcta-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.2 GHz Cortex-A53)GPUAdreno 405

the cpu is really old for todays standard, i upgrade my phone to the newest simply for the photo taking capabilities, others say the issue with your phone is that they stopped updating the os. are are still on android 6.0? or? also curious what firefox android does ill load it up but doubt i will have any issues with a galaxy 9+.

I tried to put up with a couple versions of Firefox on my phones, but I couldn't take it. Still my favorite browser on the desktop. I have been very happy with the stock browser on my S7. Not sure why Mozillia isn't trying harder on mobile, but probably won't bother going back unless I hear about some major change being made.

Good to know it's not just me. Maybe I'll just in fact look at alternatives. I'll give Firefox Focus a try. I don't really have much in terms of bookmarks or anything like that so should not be too big of a deal to switch.

It's definitely not the fastest mobile browser (on an SGS8) but the tab queue is my killer app.

I use the adblock browser (based on Firefox), which is also a bit faster just by virtue of filtering out ads. Frankly, I can't stand web ads on mobile, regardless of the browser I'm using it seems to slow things to a crawl.

I don't know if it's still usable in a free version, but on my last beater phone (2GB ram, slow CPU), Puffin was bizarrely speedy. Like orders of magnitude faster than Firefox or Chrome. My Moto G6 runs Firefox + ublock well enough that I haven't bothered this time round though.

So Firefox Focus was no go. I'm thinking this may be an OS issue. It's like if the internal DNS resolver needs to "warm up" when it first needs to be used. Like if my phone is sitting and then I go to use it, that's when it's super slow for the first site to load.

Is there an equivalent to the host file in Android? I'm going to try to hard code some local IPs to some of the web pages I visit the most like my hvac control to see if it speeds things up.
