Is it just me or has AT support gone down since the forums were expanded?

Hello,

I used to be on AT a lot more back when there were maybe 10 subforums. Now that there are 20 or so, it seems like it's much more difficult to get an answer since the users are divided amongst the forums. With the switch to Vbulletin, could we narrow down some of the forums such as consumer electronics be just one forum and merge a lot of the hardware forums back into GH. Just a thought...

Just because every single user and the majority of the mods ask for this, do you think its really a good idea?

OR could we at least be able to click, for example, Hardware and Techology and get all of the posts of the subforums???

You don't think this is a slight exaggeration?

The majority of mods agree on this? Nah, I doubt it.

Sonofa...I can't catch a break around here! 😛

So you are saying the majority of mods like having 5,394 subforums?

By having the sub forums, we were able to place sub forum specific moderators in each. That way the senior mods do not have to monitor as many threads on a regular basis. If there is a problem within a specific sub forum that the appointed/elected mods cannot handle, we can be contacted to go there and help out.

If these subforums were reduced or deleted, it only means that the 12 or 14 senior mods, plus the jr mods, would then have the same number of threads available to cover but without any help that the appointed/elected mods provide.

Doesn't make the workload of mine or any other mod any easier. It only makes it worse.

Plus, when there is a problem it would take longer to get to it with less mods. At least having sub forum specific mods makes the chance that an issue (or any other member issue) will being addressed a little faster. Remember, even though there may be 12-14 senior mods, plus the Jr mods, it doesn't mean that we are all on duty at the same time. There are times when I am modding, I might be the only mod logged in. It does happen.

We rely on these category mods to help us do our jobs better, and more efficient by making us aware of any problems that they may not be able to handle within their subforum.

Trust me, having less subforums will only make it worse for both the mods and the membership.

That and if a person was smart enough to navigate to these forums, he/she should be smart enough to navigate to a sub forum.
Should be.

Are you too lazy to click one extra link?

With these lines of reasoning, there should be no subforums at all. It should just be one giant mass.

What about what I suggested earlier in that you can click the top forum (eg Hardware and Technology, consumer electronics, software, etc) and you see all posts from the sub forums? The posts would still be directed to a certain subforum but people can see a lot more topics at once when trying to help others. The mods still do their job with each subforum.

I've suggested this before, its being used on this website here:

I'm looking to find a vBulletin plugin that can create this.

What does everyone else think of this idea?

I like the idea as long as replies go into the right sub forum, which I assume they would.
