Is it just me, or does BTX seem totally unneccessary?

It seems to me that the "inverted ATX" thing that some case manufacturers are doing take care of the supposed reason for BTX. I think BTX is a sham and money-making scam for Intel.

Yeah well, when you manufacture a 150w CPU, you start to look at things differently...😀

Actually, BTX is a viable next step from ATX. The problem is that they are Intel, and instead of producing the spec and having some forum to deal with specifics and its future, they just released it and said ATX was going to die.

It will be interesting since AMD is basically laughing and saying they don't need BTX and in fact BTX makes it hard for the trace lines on the AMD 64Boards for memory to work properly

Conspiracy? LOL

it just doesn't seem kewl enough. something like a g5 with temp zones..that would be neat. btx seems to mostly benifit prebuilt stuff, like dells etc that use only one system fan.
