Is it just me, or do buckeye trees smell um, er, "funny" this time of year?

These things have a REALLY strong smell. It started sometime last week and will probably continue for a week or more until they are finished blooming. My wife and I even have a name we call them that is something other than "buckeye". Do you know what I mean <nudge, nudge, wink, wink>???

You know, you're driving through your neighborhood when it hits you - a scent similar to what I can only imagine a porno set smells like. Those are buckeye trees.

Yeah I know what you're talking about...

It smells like ...nut...skeet...come

I've never seen or smelled one, but i assumed that beavers use these trees when they build their little dams?

Are you talking about "sperm" trees? I thought they're dogwoods... white flowers right?

I carry a buckeye in my briefcase. Have had it for 20 years. Don't know why, don't think it's lucky or anything like that.

There is a tree across the street from my parents house, that must be what it is because sometime during the year it has a very strong smell of semen. Almost overbearing.

A lot of trees make that musty smell. Some of the ornamental pears, a couple of Viburnums. The horse chestnut does reek (buckeye).

They are NASTY! I thought they were the dogwoods as well. We used to have a tree in front of our house that smelled terrible.

We planted an ornamental pear in our front yard. It smells bad for about a week in the spring. We've also got lots of dogwoods in the area and they smell too.
