not the quality, but the actual look of it, it almost seems like we use a different film or camera.

Yes, I can almost always tell. The quality/polish usually seems higher in US productions.

Does it have anything to do with PAL/NTSC conversions? It's quite obvious when you're watching a foreign show. Compare Japanese television, such as MXC on Spike and it looks like American television. Japan uses NTSC and the two look similar. Then watch something European which is PAL. It looks obviously different. Just a theory. It could all be lighting and camera quality.

Most European movies have non-existent acting, incomprehensible scripting, nonsensical plots, etc. Just a few examples: Brotherhood of the wolf, The crimson river (despite Jean Reno), etc. And these are supposedly the movies that are good enough to be exported to the US.

British movies, which are often on par or better then hollywood movies, and anything directed by Luc Benson are generally exempt from this though.

I notice you say most, but a notable exception: Le Cinquième élément, or The Fifth Element, which was nominated for an Oscar.

I think most of what I notice is intended. Color filters, soft focusing, ect.
