Is it just me or are the Powerbooks gettin' popular?

I guess if I did get a laptop it'd probably be a powerbook...

either that or a sony viao or dell laptop...

No Sony or Dell notebooks. Dell notebooks are too heavy and we had a lot of problems with them in the past at work. And Sony's, I'm not gonna get into that.... the support is the WORST ever.

i also heard Sony has real bad tech support.

the new powerbooks look real sweet. i wouldn't mind having one.

I have a 15" one, and just like in every other thread that I mention it, I'll say that it is the single best piece of tech I have bought in my LIFE. This thing is soooo incredible.

I just upgraded the HD from the stock 60GB to a Hitachi 40GB 5400rpm from hot deals, and man it BLAZES now. Cut about 8 secs of boot time and everything runs noticeably faster. It's like I OC'd the thing! 🙂

I'd consider getting one if it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Maybe when I get rich I'll buy one 😛

funny, i've bought a Sony and a Dell notebook and have never had any trouble. i once had to RMA my Sony and they paid for the shipping and everything and had it back in a week. as for the Dell, mine weighs about 5ish pounds and has never given me a problem. guess you have to take this from case to case.

*edit* back to the topic, if i ever had the money i would definately buy a powerbook!

Well the Dell screens just got kinda "flaky", the plastic around the screen just broke, etc. with the Sony, it took them about 2 months to get the broken notebook! They always said we don't have to send it, someone will pick it up. And we were a company customer. If I would have been just a private customer, I could understand that, but if they threat companies like that, then we're takin' our business somewhere else.

I had some money to burn and was looking at getting a laptop. I'd love a Powerbook, but 1600 for the 12" screen is way too much. I use IRIX and Linux at work, so I'm very comfortable using a shell. I'd love to have one, but not for that much.

IBM Thinkpad. I don't care if you need to sell lemonade to get the extra cash for one. You'll thank yourself many times over. I SWEAR by IBM.

yeah, thinkpads are awesome - esp when you get it from fleabay. i luv my T21, now all i need is a dvd/cdrw on it. powerbooks are cool too, but too much $$$ needed.

I've had both a IBM T23, and a Powerbook 667DVI. The T23 is hands down the better laptop in terms of build quality. I wish I had never ponied up the money for my Powerbook G4...but the looks this thing gets...priceless😀 OSX.2 rocks my world too.

If I could, and if anybody offered, i'd trade my PB for a T30 in a heartbeat. This PB is too fragile.

well I think to get the same thin-Thinkpad, with all the extras that a Powerbook has, you will be soon lookin' at the same prices. The base-models are cheaper, but the Powerbooks are just fully loaded, no external CD-Drive, etc.

I love my PowerBook. I just got a week ago:

front
back

It is a:

1Ghz G4
1GB RAM
60GB HD
15.2" display
SuperDrive
AirPort

The best laptop I have ever owned, and I have had them all (ThinkPads included).
