Is it just me or are movies getting better these days?

I love how all of the Hollywood types kept referring to The Departed as "the greatest, most original American film to come out of Hollywood in a long time" when it was a rip-off of Infernal Affairs.

It takes longer for me to reach my boiling point on the topic, I was a Hong Kong cinema nut when most of ATOT was still in diapers.

My opinion is that movies as a whole haven't gotten any better, nor have they gotten any worse.

There are great movies made every year, there are terrible movies made every year. Sure, some years are better than others, but I wouldn't say as a whole "movies are getting better", because they simply aren't.

Also, Calvaire is kinda slow, but I still thought it was awesome.

meh, I haven't even heard of any of these movies before. I guess that what you get for not having a TV so you never even see previews for movies that you aren't gonna watch anyways. I only watch 2-3 movies a year in theaters, and probably download 3-4 over the internets, but those are usually older movies. I guess I might say movies are getting better since I only ever see the most talked about movies and such. I guess the next Harry Potter movie will be the next I watch thats comming out this July right?

Casion Royale was good. Blood diamond was ok but a bit too violent for my taste.
