Is it insane to move someplace without a job lined up?

I was out at UCLA getting my masters and finished that and moved back east to look for jobs in NY and have had no luck whatsoever...

I am interested in moving back to southern cali., and might go as soon as next week, I have had one interview I am still waiting for the answer from in LA, but I find it hard to make real contacts when I am on the east coast and am applying for the west coast...I figure the worst case scenario i get a temp job or something for a little while I look...

but part of me says its crazy to move cross country without a job lined up....(east coast is where my family is so i can have free living there thats why i tried it first)

I have a friend who, after his college graduation ceremony, hopped in his car and just started driving. He ran out of gas in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He got a job there, then eventually opened up a liquor establishment and he's still doing fine three years later.

It can work. The job market sucks, but it can work.

you got some west coast friends who'll let you crash at their place (maybe for months) while you look for work?
