... because someone is doing this to me. they are on the same campus as me... i just want to know if i take information to campus authorities (police, computing security), whether they will do anything. i have enough for them to find out who did it.

thanks :)

What kind of proof could you possibly have?

BTW: i do sign up people for spam... but only to those idiots on the newsgroup that forward their date so their ad stay up longer.

when you're on the same campus, it's a lot easier to get proof and track people down

there is a way they can get away with this, but i hope they weren't smart enough to take that.

Several of the spam lists provide an email that states what IP address signed you up.

Sometimes it isnt anyone particular. Viruses have their way with computers on a college campus. My old roommate used to open up all of the .exe emails he received. Since i was in his address book, i get the spam too now.

I know a guy who was arrested by the FBI for doing all this stuff to his last company. He signed them up for tons of porn spam, forwarded their voice mail to porn lines, and sent them threats in emails and on their web site. Anyway he got a felony for it and three years probabtion.

The funny part is the prick thinks I did something wrong to him and suddenly I get a ton of porn spam at both home and work. It's really funny that I get it at work because no companies have my work address and nobody else gets porn spam. So I am thinking the the dude signed me up. Too bad there is no way to prove it or I would send him to jail. It's really upsetting to get 20 new mail messages and they are all teens in porn shots. Good thing my Spambayes Outlook add-in flags 99% of it as spam and deletes it.
