Is it illegal to re-use unstamped postal stamps?

I've always wondered this seeing as how some of my mail never gets that red or black ink on it. I've never tried re-using stamps, but I always think to myself, "damn that money I could save right there!"

It all depends on morality, yours specifically. If you want to and don't care, go for it. If you fear the post office finding out and machine gunning your home, and decide not to, that's okay, too.

Who cares if it's illegal? If the only Law you obey is that of the state, you have serious issues.

Stamps insure that you pay for services rendered. Reusing stamps just because they didn't keep a check on you is just as bad as making counterfeit stamps. Any attempt to circumvent measures in place to keep you from getting something for nothing is STEALING.

Try it, it won't work. I'm pretty sure the mail will get returned. The stamps were stamped, even though you did not see the ink

I obey the laws of no state! (*Is not american*)
Then you're a commie. 😀
I'm not a commie! I just have a firmly held belief that the bourgeoisie capitalist pigs of the west should be overthrown and their wealth redistributed amongst the proletariat.

I've always wondered about this too! I occasionally receive mail that doesn't seem stamped. However, I often suspect that it may have been stamped but the ink is invisible.

I have never been willing to take the risk, since chances are the post office will press charges if all fails. Nonetheless, I'm still curious to know the answer, just for the sake of curiosity.

it wont work. the post office sometimes will use a carbon-petrol-phosphorous-tetrachloride aquaeous ink that is visibile only under light emission of 3400k wavelength.

no, i dont work for the USPS but i did sleep at a holiday inn last night

just set the to address and teh return address as the same thing. put no postage on it and it will get to where you want it with a message saying postage due

hehe, some of my friends used to do that, and it actually worked. Or you can just put used stamps on there, that will make it less obvious
