is it illegal to have a laptop in the front seat of your car?

I think I heard once that you can't have a TV in the front seat of your car... but I put an old laptop in mine so I can have a nearly infinite music selection.

I've driven past plenty of cops with my laptop in my front passenger seat without a problem. YMMV though.

Why don't you check your local, county, and state laws to find out instead of asking 100,000 strangers on an international internet message board?

Well, since I live in Oregon, I would probably Google for *gasp* Oregon state law! :Q

I know it's confusing, but just try to stick with me. From there, you might be able to find local laws. If you can't, (let's say you live in Portland Oregon) try searching for ... now stay with me, here's where it gets confusing again ... "Portland Oregon law" or something like that.

If that doesn't bring up anything, you can consult your city hall for literature on your city and county laws.

Whew, good job. That was TOUGH! Next week, we'll study other complicated subjects such as "common sense" and "thinking outside the box" :p

Yes they sure do, and I would say that it is legal for them to do so. We are all equals.......

................Right?

Yeah, if it is, mine is illegal. I've got a 7" VGA touchscreen replacing my radio with a 2.4ghz celeron installed in my back seat. Does Mp3s, GPS nav, XM, the whole nine yards, etc.

damn, I wish I could afford that, i'm doing mine the ghetto way, although it looks pretty nice with the black thinkpad at my right finger tips.

I think its illegal to have anything other than GPS in front of the driver. So technically if its in the passenger seat you should be ok...unless you're busy watching porn and swerving all over the place like a maniac...

I have a 7inch touchscreen with an epia m1000 that does GPS, mp3, DIVX, DVD, and MAME. Still looking for a wireless controller so i can play street fighter in the car.

I was behind some jack ass in Chicago traffic who spent a minute or two of every go forward, stop, go forward, stop cycle staring at his laptop which meant we all waited for him to get going and people started cutting. I really wanted to kill him.
