Newegg has it for 199.99+SH, was 259.99
you may check it HERE

I need your advice as well as I want this card for my new computer (to be built on mid Dec.), shall I grab it now or better wait, there will be a better deal.

Thanks and wish it some of you may like it.

This WAS and I am talking about a today deal not a five months ago one unless you can bring it back to me. btw, if u searched more u'd have found another more recent one from amazon but, at that time i didn't know i will b having the cash to do my new rig.

Do u think it may happen again or not (read my post carefully before mocking).

A couple of months ago ZZF had it for $200 - 80 rebate ($120, free shipping). Creative Lab has rebates on its product all the time. If you can't wait, go ahead and pull the trigger.

I'd definitely wait. They seem to go on sale at least once a month. I got mine for $130 after rebate( still haven't gotten that yet) and I see them pretty consistantly going for aprox $160.

I probably wouldn't buy this card at all and definately not at this price. Wait until it's below $150 if you must have it.

Y not... think it is the best sound card nowadays and will be even better when more games support the x-ram feature. moreover, i need the front (optical and spdif) that this one has.

Foolish to buy it at that price w/ rebate right now. I got mine when it was priced at $199 before $80 rebate less than two months ago. It'll be at a lower price w/ rebate sooner than you think.

Not the best
I don't have high hopes for x-ram
You lose a lot of what makes this card good using a digital connection
The Xtreme music is over $100 less than what you're saying is a hot deal on this card
A lot people who get this card and similar ones don't have good enough output devices to justify the purchase imo

So why would I not buy this? I'd get the Xtreme music if I wanted an X-Fi and get the same sound quality minus the X-ram that seems like more of a gimmick than anything else at this point. If you think X-ram is going to take off, wait until it's below $150 like I mentioned.

I think spending twice as much on your speakers as your soundcard is a good starting point for budget, and beyond that, spend more on the speakers.

For headphones I'd say spend as much on the headphones as the soundcard, or spend more on the headphones.

If you have a nice set of headphones or one of the top comptuer speaker systems (or better), then I think it's reasonable to start spending this much on the soundcard as long as you know why you're getting it.

As for the speakers, I already have the Inspire Digital 5700 (the one with external decoder). Do you think this is ok!!!

Digital from the X-Fi to those speakers is going to be a waste of its abilities and you'll only get stereo from games. Creative used to have their proprietary digital DIN connection, but unless I'm mistaken, X-Fi no longer supports that. Even if it did, you would get better results from the high quality analog output of the X-Fi than sending digital out for the speakers to process.

If you're getting this card for gaming (which I think it's safe to assume), analog is the way to connect it.

With the digital features out of the way, the speaker system itself looks like it's about on par with the ~$75 creative systems (like the current Inspire 5800 model).

I wouldn't spend $200 on a soundcard to go with those.

Do I think it's ok?
It will work.
I would save up for some new speakers while I was at it though.

Agreed. I don't care wth it can do, I can't justify paying $200 or even 150 for a sound card.
