too much oil is bad, too little oil is bad, its gotta be just right, just like every other fluid in the engine

a half liter isn't going to make a difference. Heck, i used to add an extra quart to my Saturn because it burned a quart in between oil changes. That way, I Didn't have to worry about adding one.

Because it's a Saturn and that problem is common. I have a Saturn. It burns oil.

I doubt a half quart will make any difference. Most engines have a range that they can use, which is from low to high. 300ZX's for instance had the same engine from 90-96, but Nissan changed the rated oil capacity sometime in the middle of production. The engine didn't change, they just figured that a little more was probably optimal.

It's not rocket science.

it's ok, the engine is not going fvck up. it's only half a litre, not like you dumped another whole litre in there!

what model car? if you just did this once, it's ok but don't make it a habit. just don't drain the entire oil pan and re-add. that's a waste of friggin good oil. ;)

i 'd fill it to 'full' but much more than that =why bother risking damage to your engine..?

half a liter is ok. More than one extra liter--->>> foamy oil---->>low oil pressure---->>> engine failure

Half a litre should be OK, most cars take 3.5 litres + .5 if you change the filter. What does the dipstick show?
