is it hard to replace the CPU of Dell 8600 ?

Better yet, there is this forum, where it actually belongs.

And no, replacing the processor in most notebooks is not all that difficult.

1. Open case. Remove huge black plastic funnel that covers CPU on one end and snaps into the rear fan grill on the other.
2. Remove old CPU.
3. Install new CPU.
4. Forget putting the plastic thing back on. Its a waste. A normal HSF is better, and if you buy the CPU retail, it comes with it.
Steps one and four are likely to not apply, as this is not a desktop.

i was under the impression that the cpu is soldered onto the motherboard
imo if you have to bust out the heat gun than it is going to be a pain in the ass

if it is a matter of just taking it apart and dropping in a new one that it shouldnt be that hard but i would imagine dell would void the warranty regardless

In newer mobile machines? No.

The Inspiron 8600 utilizes a socketed processor.
