Is it good to run the cpu and ram async?

I know for a fact that I won't be able to push this piece of crap 1700+ tbred a I got from newegg two days ago anywhere. My Hyper X PC-3000 is running as dual channel pc-3200 right now, and I'm wondering if its better to run the ram this way, or should I go back down to dual channel pc-3000? I remember reading that you get better performance if you run the cpu and ram sync.

What board are you using? while generally it is better to run synch perhaps you can run synch at the rams speed instead of the CPU's fsb. I had a 1700+A that did 2400+speed at 200fsb@1.7v on a SL-75FRN-L just by dropping the multiplier.

I have a MSI K7N2-Delta-L. I'm wondering if this board unlocks the cpu? I dunno, can you give me some suggestions to try to get atleast 2GHz?

200x10. If it's a DLT3C then use 1.75 vcore. If it's a DUT3C then use 1.85 vcore (while this is not usually recommended, it's on the safe(r) side). I personally wouldn't suggest just jumping up to that setting. See if it can do 200x7 first (1400MHz, ~ equal to 1700+ speed) and the lowest voltage. Then work your way up.

I hate this CPU/Ram Ratio thing in the bios. I don't want to do ratio 1:1 because then my hyper x wouldn't be at its max speed. I would have to put the FSB of the CPU to 200MHz to get the ram to be at pc-3200 which most likely won't work, since its a tbred a.

I tried messing around, and I put 180 x 11 which is 1980MHz, but when it started up, it still said AXP 1700+. I dunno why. I went into the bios and it still had what I put, but it didn't overclock. I dunno what to do.

Nforce2 boards HATE running ram out of sync. All your benchmarks and apps will have absolute crap performance if it's out of sync.

2gHz probably isn't going to happen without some retarded cooling and voltage levels.

Best you could hope for is to run at 8/8.5/9x200 or something.
