Hi! Sorry if this is not the correct section to be posting this do move it.

My computer was working as usual smooth, never had any problems with it, now this is weird I don't know if any of you heard this before but I wanted to plug my headphones in and I pushed it into the usb port next to it by accident and the computer just died on me,safe to say the whole thing is fried or just the power supply?

English isn't my native sorry!

You may have fried the port, but I think the rest of the system would be OK. Is this a port on the front of the computer?

Try unplugging the computer, hit the power button, plug it back in and try the power button again. If it still doesn't boot, unplug the cable that is connecting that USB port to the motherboard (unplug the power first) then plug it in and try to boot again.

If you wait a while, it may recover. USB ports and motherboards often have the polyfuse type of short circuit protection, which will reset if you leave it unpowered for a while.

Thanks a lot you guys! I did the following and the computer powered back up online, disconnected the usb ports from the MB and unplugged power cable, plugged power cable back in and turned the computer on. would it be harmful to connect the USB ports to the MB again or is it ok?

Thanks!
