Is it feasible to cook ground beef in the microwave?

I'm sure it will "cook", as in all the bacteria will eventualy die. I'm not sure if I'd ever eat a microwaved from raw meat hamburger.

I only use the microwave to defrost it a little, but god it's disgusting. Even if you're desperate I wouldn't do this. The meat turns out so soggy and unevenly cooked it's not even funny

It could be done, but it'll be much more difficult to tell if it is cooked through. I'd just do it with a stove and pan to make sure. You're really not saving yourself much time by using a microwave anyway, since ground beef cooks pretty fast.

This is partially from laziness, and partially just wondering if it's possible. I'm trying to make a dip, so I just need ground beef, not patties, and just heating it up in the micro would certainly be easier (and easier to clean up) than using a skillet. Thanks for the replies.

If the ground beef for the dip involves you making a chili, you can put it in with the chili mix and mash it up with a whisk, fork, or spoon and let it boil in the chili to cook.

If you've ever had Cincinnati Style Chili (like GoldStar, Skyline, etc.) that's how it's done.

Ah man I don't know about that. A friend of mine was doing it recently and I was like does that even cook? He says it did enough or something but it was for the dogs anyway. But I don't think they ate much cause I'd be worried about them getting sick.. it looked kinda shady. He ends up flushing the damn stuff down the toilet (which is the culprit when it clogs the next day LOL). 😀

Well, I was looking online, and an FDA website said that microwaving ground beef will kill all the bacteria, but said nothing as to the edibility of the results...
