Is it easier to get on and off a bolt on or clip on heatsink in a tight case?

I have never tried a bolt-on heatsink and I recently switched to the Sonata case which is really quite tight, space-wise. Every time I need to get to the CPU I have to take the mobo out since the PS blocks access to the h/s retention clips and the PS can not be removed. I was just wondering whether it would be easier to get the h/s on and off with the bolt-on variety.

bolt on heatsinks require that you pull the entire mobo out of the case. So definately harder to work with than a clip on heatsink.

yup i would go with a clip on

Yeah, but if I understand correctly, once the bolt-on base-plate is secured from the back of the mobo, then you don't have to remove the mobo anymore to get the h/s on and off, right? You can just take the h/s on and off by screwing-unscrewing a few screws and the metal baseplate stays in place without having to remove the motherboard each time. Isn't that the case?

If you're lucky this is the case. I have an alpha 8045 on my processor, and every time i unscrew it at least one of the bolts seems to loosen from the nut on the back of the motherboard...which of course means you have to take it out to re-tighten it. I suppose that once you have them tightened the first time you could put a dab of super glue or epoxy of soem sort to try to reduce the chances of this happening, but it could still happen.
