Is it detrimental to have artic silver smeared on the L7 bridges?

I thought it would/could be harmful to the cpu so I cleaned all the AS off with Vaseline, .......... then cleaned all the Vaseline off with fingernail polish remover.

Q-tips make the job more precise and be careful not to use any more of either the Vaseline or nail polish remover than necessary ................. you don't want to dis-lodge the cpu corner pads.
