Is it common for an Xbox 360 to interfere with a cell phone signal?

One of my roommate swears that ever since I got my Xbox 360 about two weeks ago and hooked it up in the den, that his Motorola/Cingular phone doesn't get any reception in the house anymore. He says that it keeps cutting in and out, and even when he goes to the back porch, the recption is still spotty...even when the Xbox 360 is off.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the RF signal being given off by the Xbox 360 to receive a signal from the wireless controller to turn on?

Any ideas, comments, suggestions? BTW, of the four of us in the house, his is the only cell phone that is acting up and our home 5.8GHz line is working fine.

There shouldn't be any interference. Here's how you can find out for sure.

Have him talk on his cell phone. While he's in an area that has bad reception, unplug the xbox 360. If his reception doesn't get better, remove the xbox 360 from the house and drive down the road with it. If his cell phone reception is still spotty (which it should be), then you'll know that the xbox 360 did not screw up his crappy phone service.

Since his is the only phone with spotty reception, it's probable that his cell phone company or his cell phone is responsible.

I use my cell phone sitting a foot away from my 360 often, and it never interferes with the signal.

Very possible, I used to have a wireless keyboard, and I always keep my cell phone beside the keyboard on my desk, and any time the phone would ring my keyboard would just go crazy (no signal, it would say the batteries are dead, etc, etc).

I'm pretty sure wireless keyboards, and phones use RF, so it's possible.
