It is not too uncommon. The likelyhood of deal pixels goes up with the higher number of pixels but irragardless it is a very very common thing.

compusa service plan- if there are 3 or more dead pixels anywhere on the screen you can have it replaced

I believe the OP is talking about a "dead pixel" when the LCD is new OSx86 :)

/em doesn't know what dead pixel looks like. *sacrifices kitten to the Gods*

Buy it from Costco, return until you find an unit w/o dead pixels FTW.

A "dead pixel" is one pixel stuck on a single color; for me, it's a red one on a Dell lappy! :|

Got lucky when I bought my laptop at Best Buy, they let me exchange it onsite if I even found one bad pixes. The first laptop had a perfect screen, but machine died after 2 hours. Second and third had a dead pixel, the third was perfect... though the trackpad was upside down. They wouldn't let me exchange that one because the sensors were in the right place, it was just upside down. Sent it off to e-machines to get the pad fixed, then they lost it! because the box they sent a box for me to send it to the company that had the label for the desktop repair center instead of the laptop center. Finally got it back after a month. Been perfect since except for the infamous crack on the LCD hinges.

Sometimes pixels are just stuck. My Dell 2405FPW doesn't have any dead pixels(luckily), but it did have two pixels stuck on baby blue when I first got it. After a few days of use they went away and I haven't noticed any messed up pixels since!
