is it common for a motherboard to malfunction? need HELP!!!

My computer will not boot, my monitor just waits in standby and i can't even get to the BIOS. I've tested every piece that i can individually and they all work in another computer. I can't test the mb or processor because i dont know anyone with a machine that is athlon compatible.

I don't see why the processor would suddenly fail? Did my motherboard fry itself magically or what!?!?

so it worked before or is this a new system? Have you changed anything? What kind of mb proc ect?

well it's been working for about 6 months. The mouse was acting up so i yanked it to put in another one without turning the machine off. The computer locked up and hasn't turned on since.

800 mhz athlon, not overclocked
abit kt7 RAID mb

Open it up and try to reset cmos with the jumper.
