Is it better to run as close to 1000 Mhz HT or the highest FSB possible?

I'm new to this Ocing on the Athlon 64.

At this moment I'm running 250 * 10 with a HT multiplier at 4. So my HT bus is running at 1000.

Should I drop my HT multi to 3 and push this Corsair DDR 550 as far as it can go and only get 800 to 900 HT bus?

I say as long as you drop it to 3 and getthe fsb in the 270 range the HTT will be in that 800-1000 range and little or no noticeable difference. The added ram bandwidth will give you more and that may not be much....

Try 9x277 = near 2500mhz and will run 554ddr with 1:1 divider...3x277 will be 831HTT and that is fine...

dont worry about it, it makes almost nil difference. drop the multi and see how high you can OC. i run my system at 295*3=885

I run my LDT Multi at 2x (because my AV8 has pblms running 3x) with my 3000+ Winie set at 278x9 = 2.5Ghz. I also am running a 2:3 RAM divider with Geil Value RAM 3 3 3 8 1T. There have been quite a few people that have done studies that prove the LDT multi does not effect performance that much on the A64 archetecture.

Suposedly my system has two performance no-no's in it:
1. Running LDT at 2x on HTT bus (556Mhz)
2. Running Value RAM at 2:3 divider (178Mhz), Zebo's Memory Sticky proves this myth false.

But i still get pretty damn good performance benchmarks from it:
Sandra05 - Dhrystone ALU = 11283 MIPS
1M SuperPie = 37 Sec
PCMark04 = 4842

I hear that ram badwidth hardly makes a differance.

however much more than HT

ram bandwidth makes a ton of difference on some apps (coughcoughsuperpi), and ht dosnt have a big impact.
EDIT: i can't get my system to post under 3x LDT, but i did lower the memory speed and loosen the timings. my superpi times went from 33s to 38s!!!
