Is it better to have 1gig of pc2700 or 512 pc3200?

I'm thinking of getting rid of my 1 gig pc2700 and purchase a corsair/muskin 1 stick 512mb pc3200. It is better just to keep the 1gig pc2700 than replace it with a 512 mb pc3200. Will there be a difference? thanks

I would think the 512 would offer slightly better performance, but when you already have 1gig of pc2700 it really is not worth the investment.
