Is it better to burn out or fade away?

So, when comes a time when you've done all that you can and there's nothing else you can do, would you go out with a BANG or just simply stop, smiles at your accomplishments and fade into obscurity?

fade to black

If you truly were great, the people that surrounded you would take care of the glory part. Otherwise, you just look like a fool if you construct your own blaze of glory.

Barry: Rob, top five musical crimes perpetuated by Stevie Wonder in the '80s and '90s. Go. Sub-question: is it in fact unfair to criticize a formerly great artist for his latter day sins, is it better to burn out or fade away?

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue
and into the black
You pay for this,
but they give you that
And once you're gone,
you can't come back
When you're out of the blue
and into the black.

The king is gone
but he's not forgotten
Is this the story
of Johnny Rotten?
It's better to burn out
'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone
but he's not forgotten.

There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.

What the hell does Metallica, Jon Bon Jovi, and Def Leppard have to do with one another?

One thing I've learned is to not get my life philosophy ideas from drugged out, burned out musicians.
