Is it best to sell on ebay before or after the holidays?

I must admit I just started using ebay, only to buy. After cleaning out my garage, I now have a huge stack of stuff I want to sell. Those with experience, should I wait until after the holidays..does it matter? In general it seems like items are slowing down, not that many auctions won.

Do you think more people are spending money like crazy in December or January?

I'd sell before. This August , I sold a BRAND NEW 10 gb iPod, for 220. A week ago, I sold a USED 10 gb iPod for 253.

I see your point, but a lot of people get christmas money...and most people don't buy used gifts, do they?

To just think about it.
I think there are going to be more buyers now.
You have alot of people picking up presents for people vs after christmas there will be alot of people
selling items they received and don't want.

People will be looking for more of a cheap deal after Christmas. Before Christmas they won't mind spending more because it's a present and they're in the Christmas mood. Afterwards they'll be in the January sales/deals mood.

The stuff that sells really well in January is self-help type stuff, exercise gear, diet books, anything that relates to those New Year's Resolutions.

No one has money after XMas and a lot of people have stuff they are looking to get rid of. I was on Ebay for a long time (340-0-0) and found that to be the case.

Of course, that means we should all be looking for stuff to buy on eBay in January. It's funny that you posted this question, bentwookie, because I was wondering the *exact* same question last night. Right down to the part where I figured some will be spending holiday money in January.

I wonder if computer add-ons sell good in January? People get a new computer for christmas... need stuff to go with it. Maybe software? Maybe blank media? Cordless accessories?
