Is it bad to buy a laptop that you think it might be stolen?

Morally it's wrong.

But other than that, you might be contacted by police about it. That happened to someone on these boards I think, though they didn't know they were buying stolen goods until the police contacted them.

Just browse the Hot Deals Forum. You'll find one sooner or later.

I think it's a bad idea.

You never know if someone finds out, you might not ever get any money back if it gets confiscated or something. Not a risk I would take personally.

to say its morally wrong is inaccurate to ones morals. if you wont feel guilty about it,. then go right ahead, but if you will, realize the consequences of your actins.

If you buy stolen goods, whether you know it or not, and the police trace the goods to you they will confiscate the goods and return them to the rightful owner. You may or may not face charges, probably not, but you will NOT BE COMPENSATED for the price you payed for the goods and you have no recourse that I know of.
