No. But, if you leave it plugged in like a desktop, then some makers suggest removing the battery. Having it constantly charging is not necessarily a good thing.

If it's constantly plugged in, the laptop stops charging the battery once it's full. The only problem with keeping the battery in is the heat - lithium ion batteries lose capacity faster under hot conditions, which most laptops tend to have in abundance.
