Is it bad to have no fan in your case??

I was looking at my case yesterday and just noticed that there is no fan, nor is there a place for a fan. Only thing spinning is the power supply fan (and the CPU cooler, but that doesn?t count)

How much of a bad thing is this? I was thinking about throwing in a new power supply and a 1.3 AMD, but now that I noticed this, I don't think it is that good of an idea and I think it would be in my best interest to get a new case. Right?

As long as your temperature is in the 50s or below (Celsius), you should be fine. If not, get a fan or two; they're not too expensive.

since they are cheap, and pretty easy to install, i say you should have one. feels good to know that the cpu if getting air and not just getting coated with dust.

Thats the thing though. There is no place to mount a fan inside the case. I have been looking into new cases, but there are so many to choose.

With a hot running 1.3 athlon you will want air flow in the case, at least one fan bringing air in and one blowing hot air out of the case!
Heat can cause lockups/crashes even for non-overclocked systems!

Do yourself a favor and get an Antex Sx serries case they come from small to huge and I am sure that one of them would fill your needs. These cases are very well made and offer excelent cooling. Then throw you TBird in there and watch it fly

It isn't all that bad, I had a P3-700 machine run without any case fans. But, in your case, I think it would be a good idea.

Is there a difference between what types of fans to buy? Should I just go to my local Frys and buy whatever they have on the rack?

You should have a 5 degree Celcius difference in temperature between the MB and the case internal temperature. Is there a place for a fan in your case? If so, put a fan in it. If not, you can cut a 3" hole and put a fan and 3M scrubber in there, or two such sets, and get some real cooling. Wash or swap out the scrubbers once in a while.

Other than the CPU fan and PS fan I've never had any other case
fans. Of course I don't overclock.......

its all relative to what you going to be putting in it...but most certainly you wont be upgrading to faster and faster cpus and using that case
a friend of mine has an old gateway...well couple years old...lol...pll450 with no fans in it other then the psu one...i mean NO fans...not on the hs for the cpu....slot cpu btw...nada...not even on the litle banshee vid card...just heatsinks...lol...sounds like its off compared to mine
