when u have a sore throat? i've been told i should drink more water, so i been drinking mostly boiled water (the scalding heat relieves my throat). but one can only take so much water. i need some flavor!!!

Don't know about hot chocolate. But my grandmother used to have me gargle some warm salt water whenever I had a sore and/or itchy throat. Not sure if it does anything more than just temporary relief, but it almost always made me feel a bit better.

Temporary relief is still good. 🙂 Most asians also use that as a remedy for soar throats.

The warm salt water helps break up the phlemg and puss on the back of your throat so you can spit it out. This is what provides the relief. In fact, any hot liquid gives the same effect of breaking up the phlemg, so I would say drinking hot chocolate is a safe bet. Drinking lots of water is a must, but not just when you are sick. Also, take lots of vitamin C.
