Is it bad to download programs from Bit Torrent

If you bought the software previously, but lost your installation disk?

Maybe it's not bad...but is it legal? Say I lost my install disk for quickbooks 2003, and i just reinstalled my os...is it legal to download it off of BT and install it once on my system?

when i personally download software idc...my client lost their quickbooks installation, and i want to try to keep it legit

then you need to tell them to buy a new copy. If you're doing this for clients, installing software you got off of bittorrent just isn't smart.

that sucks, they just bought it like 2 months ago, and misplaced the cd and key...it was installed on the system, and i know they bought it for a fact because they bought it from me...stupid EULA

Contact the manufacturer. Most replace lost media and keys at a nominal charge ($10 to $15).

People who don't seed after they're done are pricks. I've maintained about a 2:3 ratio (d:u) and I don't ever notice a difference in speeds. Usually what I do is seed while I'm at school or sleeping or away somewhere else, then pause when I need bandwidth for games.

But, sorry to say, it is illegal in almost all cases.

My understanding is now that with most software you are not paying to have a physical copy of it but rather are paying a liscensing fee to be able to use that software.

As others said if you have the CD-Keys that prove you have paid per the EULA the you should be okay. In an ideal world that is.
