Is it bad that my MB is missing a jumper connector

I have the K7NCR18D Pro 2
and I'm trying to disable the SATA raids... However, to do that you need to disable a jumper...
I've looked throughout the entire board and I cannot find it... i've looked through the manual, its listed there but its nowhere to be found on the real MB.

I'm just trying to shave a few seconds off the boot time, as it tries to detect SATA devices during POST, and I don't have any.

Sometimes the printed manual you get is incorrect. Check the manufacturer's web site and check the latest manual. Hopefully it's a misprint 🙂

If you do as WobbleWobble said and find that you are short a jumper get your hands on an old HDD or CDROM and take one from there. You can even buy them online if you can't get one from old equipment. Somebody has to have one, though.

no no... they gave me plenty of jumpers...

its the jumper connector pins on the MB itself that is missing

I just want to turn off SATA, the damn thing takes longer to search for drives than it does for my MB to POST and WinXP to boot without it 😛

SATA on my ABIT NF7-S can be turned on and off via the BIOS. Check there perhaps.

can you tell me under what section you have it under... for the most part it might be pretty much the same type of bios on mine too...

i checked through my bios and couldnt' find it.. it might as well be just be right in front of my face and I can't see it 🙂

Manual, Section 2.3 (Jumper Settings) on page 5. J3 jumper, near the SATA connectors. Look at page 3 for jumper location. Can't belieive that the MB does not have the jumper, maybe you missed it? 😉

its definitely not there...
its right next to the SATA and under the ACR slot in the manual

I checked over and over again... i'm still awaiting a response from leadtek...

overall that aside, the new system is wonderful...

But still wouldn't hurt to take 2-4 seconds off the boot time
