My tv + receiver turn off and on? All the sudden it started storming before I had time to unplug my shit, and the tv and receiver powered off and on. PS3 shut off all the way and didnt turn on (works diff so I'd have to hit the PS button to start it). Everything seems fine so I assume everything is fine.

Surge protectors and battery back ups. A battery back up will prevent those little chip killing hiccups.

$40 power bar from any electronics store...warranty starts at $25k usually.

Stop being so paranoid. I never unplug my shit.

This, Everything I have is hooked up to a surge protector.

Also, power bricks will take the shock in a surge. But drops in power = ftl.

Always set my computers to stay off, I remember in HS the power kept going on and off, and the computer in that room was going on and off like nuts.

Yeah everything seems fine and turned off. I'd prefer them to stay off, but the receiver and tv restart for some reason. The ps3 doesn't restart because it requires someone to hit the ps button.

Happens all the time, and my stuff's fine. It's better for electronics to not drop the power, and it /could/ take a bit of lifespan away, but it'll likely be obsolete before it breaks anyway, so it's no big deal.

It's spirits from the other side attempting to cross back into the living world.

It's a little known fact, but back when power systems were first being developed spirits (either of the deceased or those who have never lived) were able to cross back into our realm during lightning storms. Hence the popularity of seances at the time. The spirits, not being anchored in this reality, would fade back into the ethereal planes after a few weeks.

Edison, annoyed at the ghost of his great grandmother constantly nagging him to eat his vegetables, eventually engineered a solution. He found that the most probable location of a cross-dimensional vortex forming, was at locations where there was a split or change of wire gauge. By surrounding these locations with insulated boxes, you could keep the ghost at the vortex until it closed, forcing them to stay on the other side. An unfortunate side effect was that compressing the vortex and spirit together in this manner created an interruption in electrical flow.

That is why things flicker on and off during thunderstorms, and why fuse boxes, meters, and other high voltage switches are locked in metal boxes.

I don't like it when my stuff powers off without me turning it off. I have a total of three battery backups. I have one in my home entertainment center, one for my main gaming computer, and another for my home server. I like the fact that if I am in the middle of a game on the computer or PS3 and the power goes out, I can save my game and shut everything off if it is an extended outage. This has happened a couple times already, and to me it is worth it.

This is why you should unplug all of your precious electronics at the first sign of a storm.

If the storm is really bad, I will go to the pantry and turn off the main breaker to the house. That way I dont have to go room to room.

OP, it might be a good time to replace the surge protectors on your important electronics. Most surge protectors are only good for a couple of surges, and then they need to be replaced.

Have you ever tried to file a warranty claim for a power surge? Most of those warranties are not worth the paper their written on.

A couple of years ago I tried to file a warranty claim on a computer that was damaged. After sending the surge protector to the company to be tested, the company said there was nothing wrong and denied my claim.
