Is it bad for my hard drives to have them stop spinning after 15min?

I have 4 drives and I'm rarely using more than 1 at any given time, so I set them to turn off after 15min. I don't mind waiting for them to spin back up. Is this bad for the drives though?

I dont know for sure, but I've heard that if you are continually turning them on and off, it's bad for them. Although I think it's fine to have them turn off if they're going to stay off for a decent amount of time (i.e. overnight), but Im not certain. See what other ppl say.

balance of wasting power and constant wear vs start and stop wear. go with saving power.

most hardware (moving parts) failures will occur on startup. If you don't use the drives often, go ahead and turn them off. No sense running em for nothing.
