Is it alright to leave an already-mixed protein drink in the fridge?

A month is bad but I don't see why a day or so is. Unlike creatine which supposedly goes to crap in liquid state, I shouldn't think that standard whey protein will and I've had it after 1-2 days in the fridge myself. Give it a quick shake, gulp it down, then scrape that new nasty dairy smell off your tongue and you're hot to trot.

Don't leave it anymore than a day though ... or you'll have a nasty little present waiting for you in your fridge.

If he doesn't post for another day we know that it is infact not safe to leave an already-mixed protein drink in the fridge.

I mix two protein shakes in the morning before work. One of them I drink right away and hte other I put into a gatorade (or similar) bottle and take to work. Then I drink that at around 4:00pm or so. I've never had any trouble. And sometimes I forget or I get too busy and I don't drink it that day and the next day I just shake it up in the afternoon and drink it down. No worries. If you are mixing it with milk I'd be more worried about the milk's expiration date than anything with the protein.

I wouldn't recommend it only cause the protien breaks down and just goes to waste. My friend recommends it to be consumed within an hour. This is why Myoplex shakes come in those shiny cardboard drink boxes.

I've never heard of protein "breaking down" in liquid, unless its the same thing that happens with acid during digestion, but since our bodies can absorb it then I don't know why it would be different here.

I've premixed a week's worth in juice. It was fine altho it gets thick as it absorbs the juice, twas disgusting.

Too much time in the fridge tho, bacteria will grow in it like anything else.
