Is it against the law for the government to do this?

No Lifer
To combat c.c. fraud, the government opens up credit card accounts... posts the account info on the net where scammers "hang out" and then nab them when they try to use it to buy stuff?

It seems naughty, but I condone it and I think it's funny. Cops are allowed to place vehicles in areas that have high theft...

No different then the cops putting a prostitute on the streets and busting people. Gotta find some usleless thing to do to hide the money dont you?

I'll ask this question. If you saw a nice car sitting on a street with the keys on the seat and the doors unlocked, would you take it? If not, why?

Answer that and you have your answer.

The bait car program is working pretty well here, believe they're adding more cars to the fleet.

Sweet! Nothing beats a crook trying to kick their way out of a car as a cruiser beats down on them. Bitches!

It's not entrapment for the same reason buying drugs or prositution services from an undercover cop isn't entrapment. They don't encourage anyone to go commit a crime, they're simply there to catch them when they commit the crime they were going to anyway.

What does constitute entrapment then?

from what i understand something like the cops putting pot on the ground and when you pick it up busting you for it.

but hey i could be wrong!

No, because I'd eventually get caught.

when a cop hooker picks you up. you have to solicit them. if they solicit you its entrapment.

too tired to think of any other examples.
