Is it acceptable to allow racist comments like these?

Regarding this thread.

Aenslead, a Mexican, started a thread, bashing America's legal system. Its pretty apparent that he's a dumba$$ troll, no argument there, but the resulting racist comments were pretty appalling. I don't know why these users think this type of ignorance is acceptable, but its not. At least in modern society its not, and I don't think that its acceptable on these forums either.

I get a lot of snide racist remarks from people on these forums, assuming I'm Mexican, which I'm not. This thread is a pretty good example of what has been let to slide in the past, but I think it would be a good time to take a serious stand against it.

I picked out some quotes here... Are these comments not bannable offenses if similar comments were made about blacks/women/homosexuals?

i'd agree with you except for the other side of the argument that you've conveniently forgotten to include mate. It's not nursery school, and he's being a total asshat in the firstplace. Lock the thread, but banning seems way over the top, nannying, and just plain pointless.

beautiful ray of sunshine is a derogatory and racist remark and that guy should be banned IMO. The OP of that thread you linked is a troll though.

The OP in that thread is being a total asshat. I said that in the second sentence of this post. Notice all those comments were made towards a group of people, not just towards him. If you read the thread, there are TONS of people bashing him, and I have no problem with that. The comments that I highlighted were directed at the whole race, or nationality. Its pretty excessive to me, but if its nannying to you, then so be it.

I'm siding with the OP on this one. IMHO, those comments are way over the top. If the n word can bring on a ban, I don't see why the above should be allowed.
