Do I really need to use the 4 pin connector found on certain nforce2 mobos? I know it would help stability, but would it damage anything if I didn't use it?

I have an old antec that doesn't have the 4 pin connector and I want to use it until I get a new one.

If your PS doesn't have one then you really can't use it. Power up and see if she runs okay.

I think you can buy an adapter to fit a regular molex connector to the 4-pin one.

The short answer is that if the MB has the connector, you should probably use it. Whether you use an adaptor or a direct connection to the PSU is a non-issue. That connector is supposedly there for better power to the MB which should improve stability. No promises on any of that but if you can do so with minimal cost; then why not do so?!?

The extra 4-pin connector on nForce2 motherboards is to provide extra juice along the fan headers. Unless you're running a wind tunnel, it's probably not necessary. If you don't have the plug, don't lose sleep over it.
