Is it a good idea to leave off a front intake fan?

My case has a 120mm intake fan in the front but I don't think it's doing much good there, with only a thin grill out the side of the front panel and the drive cages in the way. So do you think I'd be better off removing that fan and attatching it to one of the 120mm mounting points on the side, where it would be pulling air right over the cpu and graphics card?

Agreed. If you relocate the fan, you'll create a "dead zone" in the front half of the case, and temps in that area will increase significantly.
