Is it a curse for a lawyer not to button his suit jacket on the way to the witness stand? ;)

Haha, I don't know if it's just the movies (well, can't be b/c I've seen them do it in real life too) but lawyers always make a big deal out of buttoning their suit jacket when they get up. It's so overly dramatic that I get a kick out of it every time;)

What kind of Lawyer are you Don_Vito?

Yes, the 'ol button the jacket thing, is as bad as the taking the eyeglasses off to add sincerity to your words.

Depends on how hot it is in the courtroom.

But IIRC, Perry Mason always buttoned his suit, and since he never lost a case, that could possibly suggest that yes, it is indeed a curse for a lawyer not to button his suit on the way to the stand.

I am an Air Force JAG attorney, so in all fairness I must admit I am supposed to leave my jacket buttoned at all times. But I did the same thing when practicing in civilian settings.
