I have a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu+ Heatsink (7000rpm Fan). When I bought it, it didn't come with a Molex so I got one because I do not know what will happen if I plug it directly on my board (EPOX 8KHA+ w/ 300 watts PSU). I checked the website of thermaltake and it says it comes with 3 pin connector and does not say anything of including a molex.

Do you think it's safe If I plug the Fan it directly to the board or should I continue using the molex?
Help???:)

I don't know for sure, but I'd imagine if you have a "7,000 RPM fan", that it's the infamous Delta Black Label buzzsaw. It's not a good idea to plug this fan into a mobo header because of the amount of juice that it draws.

Obviously, if you plug it into a 12v connector directly to the PS, you lose RPM monitoring capability. What you might consider is this; snip the yellow wire where it goes into the three-pin connector that's attached to the fan. Find a spare (or buy one) 3-pin plug. Put the yellow wire back into whatever hole it came out of, on the new plug. Plug that into the "CPU fan" connector on the mobo. THis way, you have the best of both worlds; RPM monitoring capability and no worries about shorting out the mobo from too much current draw.

If I remember correctly, your mobo HAS TO HAVE a CPU RPM fan signal, or else it won't boot...that feature may be disableable (is that a word?) in the BIOS...RTM. (Read The Manual) Good luck.
