My vegetarian friend was getting pretty upset with me yesterday because I told her that I can't stand killing animals, yet I love to eat meat. I mean I won't even kill a spider in the bathtub or anything...I just can't stand killing the poor guys.

Now I don't think that it's morally wrong at all to kill animals, so I have nothing wrong with eating meat. Does this make me a hypocrit?

to me, there is a difference between killing an animal for a sadistic or malevolent reasons vs killing an animal for a particular use, as in its meat.

See that's the thing. She wasn't saying that you should enjoy killing if you eat meat...just that she didn't know how I could be so concerned for these animals that I can't kill when I have no problems eating animals that someone else has killed

Yup.

I would add to that list the killing of pests (impact on crops/livestock primarily).

While it's not sadistic to spend an afternoon blowing away the squirrel population in an orchard it is a hell of a lot of fun (and the farmers love you for it).

I like corn, but I don't like shucking cobs. I like lemonade, but I don't like squeezing lemons. I like milk, but I don't like pulling on cow tits.

And on that note I don't kill my own meat because it's too much freaking work/mess.

No you are not a hypocrite.
If you aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

QFT. I've killed animals and didn't enjoy it at all. I know exactly what happens in meat processing, I've been to slaughterhouses and I have no problem cutting up whole animals for food but I don't gain any joy out of killing animals.

Just because you don't like doing the deed doesn't mean you're a hypocrite.

Your friend is pushing a ridiculous argument. I think she suffers from that plague called youth and idealism. She'll either learn to be more accepting or she'll become a complete nutjob.
