I thought it depends on the usage

"I went into the bedroom"

"I went in to go to sleep"

Mrs Cash says "in to".

Love is a burning thing
and it makes a firery ring
bound by wild desire
I fell in to a ring of fire...

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down,down,down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire
the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
when hearts like our's meet
I fell for you like a child
oh, but the fire went wild..

"into" is a word: i went into the car to grab my wallet
"in to" are two words: "he went in to say goodbye"

"in to" is somewhat difficult to use.

they're two different words (well, 3 I guess)... they each have a use but can't really be used interchangeably in any context that I can think of.

I went into the bar, and my friend went in too. Why did he go in too? He went in to get a drink.

Wouldn't it be "I went into the bar, and my friend went in, too. Why did he go in, too? He went in to get a drink."?

Oh, and is "Get into the Spirit" correct or would it be "Get in to the Spirit"?
