I remember reading that they will stop making integrated graphics. Since they don't really make money on them anyways, and the 2 titans have some nice integs coming out, i can see how thats might happen.

yeah , ATI has become the prime intergated VGA provider as its made a nice deal with intel. Atleast now Intel Motherboard with intergated vga could play some DX9 games :)

Why would they drop out of the video market for? They have a larger market share than either ATI or NVidia.

Yeah but as byte said, they don't really make money off of it - they have 0% of the non-integrated market.

I've read in several places that they've (Intel) had a serious shortage of chipsets. I can't remember why though...

Intel is working on releasing a Vista compliant onboard video chip - so I guess they are not out of the market.

They make no money on integrated video, but they do make money indirectly because integrated video allows for cheaper PCs, thus them selling more CPUs. Maybe they'll kill off this godawful GMA9xx series and actually design something more powerful than nVidia and ATI's best from 5 years ago.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Intel decided to jump into the high-end video card market? Intel certainly must have the capital needed to do it and with its cpu expertise you would think they could design a kick-ass gpu.

intel isn't dropping out of the video market (well it seems they are)....they're just dropping out the 915/925 integrated graphics because it is not "vista" ready. so for now they're letting ati xpress 200 taking over their low end in order to just be "vista ready" for the vendors such as dell.

in about a year or 2 intel will be back with a new integrated graphics solution though, but they're gonna be behind by a good margin.

Yep. Interesting point. And why not AMD, even?

Not enough money in it for them to mess with it, maybe?
