Just need to know if it will work with SOCKET 478 MOB's, NORTHWOOD
and PRESCOT ready, because i can switch the CPU's easily. If it requaires
NEW MOB then it's better buy AMD, because AMD X2 4200 cost $350 vs
DUO T2500 $450 and AMD SCORES it almost in 20% in speed.
NEWEGG saying it's 478 CPU: IS this CPU OLD 478 MOB's next UPGRADE
or not and which MOB's are supporting it?

NEWEGG is saying it's regular CPU 478 soket and can be upgraded ANY mob supported
478 soket, is Intel Core Duo our next ANGEL for upgrade?

Core Duo does have 478 pins, but it's not compatible with northwood/prescott based socket 478 motherboards, neither are banias and dothan. They are electricaly incompatible.

Heck, not all northwoods and prescotts(and don't forget the mighty williamette) will work on all socket 478 motherboards, same thing with LGA775, not all LGA775 chips work on all LGA775 motherboards.

Asus made the CT-479 adaptor which allowed banias and dothan to run on some of their motherboards, so it is possible they may make an adaptor that allows core duo to run on some of their socket 478 motherboards as well.

Well they have them at Zipzoomfly.com, however, you have to have a motherboard that supports the adaptor, and it doesn't currently work with core duo(yonah dual core) or core solo(yonah single core), only Banias and Dothan.

I am running a Dothan 1.6 @2.4ghz using the CT-479 adaptor on an Asus P4P800-VM.

How ir works? Better than 3.2 -3.4GH PRESCOTS?

They run much much much much much(you get the point) cooler than prescotts. On the dinky little heatsink that comes with the CT-479 adaptor, I got my 1.6ghz dothan to 2.4ghz on stock voltage. It performs exceptionaly well in gaming(better than a 3.8ghz prescott, I had one to compare it too both had 6600GT's), and keeps up fairly well with an A64 of a similar speed. The hyperthreaded P4's still outperform the pentium-m by a good bit in things like video encoding, rendering, cpu intensive multitasking and things like that.
