Is ING Direct Safe?

ING Direct sounds too good to be true. How come their savings at 2.2%APR? And they are giving away money left and right for signing up or referring people to sign up.

I just put my money in there and I was advised by some peers that it can be dangerous.

Because it's FDIC insured.

It's every bit as safe as your local bank, if not safer (no B&M = no physical security risks).

Granted that only lasts up to $100K, but still...

been using it for over 2 years now.. as long as its FDIC insured, ur money is safe up to 100k.. so u can open multiple accounts up to 100k

FDIC...one of the great things left over from the "New Deal." It's basically the insurance against a new Great Depression. I have 2K in ING.

its totally not safe, people have been loosing a bunch of money a recent rash of cyber crimes. i would not reccomend it.
