Is it better to think our view of the world is "right"? It creates a lot of certainty and brings peace of mind.

Or do you think it's better that we know many different cultures that have views of reality and values that differ from our own? This leads to uncertainty and anxiety in people.

What view of the world is correct? What is the correct moral code to live by?

Does anyone here actually believe that their belief system is the "correct" one? Do you tell yourself that even though you know there are cultures that different from your own, you tell yourself that they are backwards, or wrong?

Is there anything wrong with ethnocentrism?

I personally find ignorance annoying. I love seeing different perspectives and realities. Heck I even enjoy going to rotten.com to fulfill my piqued curiosity.
However, most people tend to just see the happy things in the world, and ignore the painful truths. So yes, ignorance is bliss for most.

As for the philosophy, yeah of course I think mine is right, or I wouldn't follow my philosophy. But there's more than one way to approach life. There is more than one right. It's not black and white, right or wrong. My philosophy works for me, someone else's philosophy may work best for them. Whatever floats your boat, as long as it doesn't bother me. I don't care. <- My philosophy about philosophy :p

Here's a thought. If "God," being all knowing and all caring had created man to know no evil at all then his whole world would be perfect (relatively speaking). In this situation, ignorance (of anything evil as well as knowledge) would be bliss. So yes, I do believe ignorance is bliss.

YES ignorance is bliss!!!

my example is when I first started driving cars 10 years ago, my mechanical knowledge was limited, so i would drive my old 78 ford falcon around with no regards to what was happening under the bonnet, any funny noise were just shugged off as.."meh the car is old what do you expect" I just kept the oil, water and fuel up to it and it kept going....no questions asked.
about a year later I helped a friend rebuild his car and I paid attention to what was going on and what went into a engine and how things affect each other, after that any little noise, rattle...anything is now met with imediate attention and as a result the cost of car ownership has increase dramatically for me.....I can't stand to have an engine that has a knock or rattle in it, even if it's just a sticky lifter or something minor....I must correct the problem or something bad could happen......damn you ignorance, why can't you just come back
