How the hell can you hold your breath for 2 minutes . After like 30 seconds i feel like someone tearing at my lungs, not gonna go till I pass out, but i deffinitely feel it would be less then a minute, certainlly less than 2. Maybe I just have small lungs? I had a pulse oximiter a few months ago and it said i was getting 98% oxygen absorbtion, so my lungs work, It must just be that my massize brain requires more energy than yalls?

I doubt your body requires more oxygen than mine, I'm nearly 6'7" and ~225lbs. :)

What I do is NOT fill my lungs completely full of air, because of the outward pressure it will create. Just take a slightly larger than normal breath, and relax. If you sit there and flop around like you're dying for air, you're not helping anything.

Just don't move, maybe even close your eyes, and sit back and think about sleeping or something. The time passes quicker than you'd think. Also, I was counting actual "holding" time, with no additional inhaling or exhaling within the timespan, so no cheating by slowly letting out the air, that doesn't count. ;)

Me: 1min 20s. 1:30 isnt really speacial but its good if you havent trained. LordMaul do dive a lot or something because 2 mins is excellent.

Edit: Secod try: 1:35. 1 min doesnt really feel like anything. After that it starts to get harder fast.

Well, it seems Nikon fanboys are just as good as Canon fanboys like fuzzy ;)

I managed 1.30 easily first try, and i'm reasonably fit but i haven't freedived for years.

I think 2 and a half would have been hurting me tho...

tried again, got 20 seconds, last time at 30 i starting seeing stars and such =/

EDIT: i'd like to point out this is not becasue i'm out of shape, I run 3 days a week, and 2 moths ago I ran 20 miles and did not need to stop for lack of air, joints are the only thing that even begin to hurt when i run less that 10 miles.

I never swim, but I do work out. I wouldn't say I work out "a lot," but I spend an hour or so in the gym when I have the time and energy.

My life history hasn't exactly been free of smoking, though, so I don't know if that helps me or hurts me. Maybe it makes my body used to not having as much oxygen as it should. ;)

I agree. It's because you are pussy ;)

Anyways, try hyperventilating beforehand.
