Is Hatred of Homosexuals Just Bigotry or Are There Good Reasons to Hate Them?

I am beginning to think that hatred of homosexuals, homophobia, is just bigotry. People fearing and hating anything and anyone different.

Yes homosexuals behave differently but so what? How am I endangered by what these people do? I know Christians refer to the bible to justify their homophobia but I am suspicious of these people because they are very selective in the parts of the that book they follow.

So my question is how is homosexual behavior dangerous to me, you, society, or the country?

There is no such thing as homophobia. I havenever in my life met someone who was afraid of gay people. I have met plenty of poeple who didn't like gay people, or even hated gay people, but never a person who was afraid of them.

Why in the thread title do you refer to gays as "These" people? Just curious if you refer to everyone not like you as these/those people?

And why would you fear them? Are they beings from another planet or something?

the terms homophobia and homophobe are such crap. Very few people are afraid of or actually fear homos, many people DISLIKE them however. Dislike and fear are entirely seperate things, and the term homophobe is often used to refer to someone who DISLIKES.

i wonder if i'm homophobic... i am kind of afraid of a gay guy chasing me or something. but i'm also afraid of that happening with just about anybody i wasn't attracted to. but i don't know what that phobia is called....

Okay, I will change the Subject to:
Is Hatred of Homosexuals Just Bigotry or Are There Good Reasons to Hate Them?

There's plenty of reasons to fear them:

1. They poison the crops...
2. They live under bridges...
3. They steal babies...

oh, wait - I though you were talking about trolls.... nevermind....

Is Hatred of Homosexuals Just Bigotry or Are There Good Reasons to Heat Them?

Do no overheat lest the skin become tough and unsavory.

I think the majority of people harbor no 'hatred' for homosexuals (waste of time, to say the very least), but a lot of the antagonism stems from certain agendas i.e. introducing the concept of gays and lesbian lifestyle to young children in classrooms and the like.

btw i think there is a certain amount of fear, because every time i hear those anti-gay people talk they always bring up crap about how gay parents turn their children gay or something. seems like they're paranoid the world is going to turn gay or something.

Swishy guys make me sick, diesel dykes turn me off, but lipstick lesbians turn me on! Guess that means I swing both ways! 😀

I think you'll find that the people who react the most violently to homosexuals are the people who are the most macho, ie the least sure of their own sexuality and the most demonstrative of stereotypical notions of manhood. The word fear of homosexuals, for them then becomes an anathama. "I'm not afraid of anything" "I'm a man, I know no fear" Such people are the most cut off from themselves and thus the most cut off from the feminine side of masculinity. Always and everywhere they have to attack something, the homosexual, the black, the Arab, the other, to reafirm and strengthen the illusion of false superiority that covers the hole in their being. The inability to find real self worth within, and the substitution of a false egotism, a phoney puffed up self image, is the source of all hate. It is the other face of fear, the feeling that one is worthless. The reason we shouldn't hate is because all hate is just the outward manifestation of inner self hate. When you forgive the world, you forgive yourself.

Hate them? Are you kidding? Homosexuality is a good thing! Less competition for the rest of us to land the chix0rs! 😀

[/attempt to lighten tone of thread]

Hate is a very powerful word, I think that very few people actually hate homosexuals. So the people that actually do hate homosexuals, yes it probably is bigotry. However do not confuse those who hate homosexuals with those who do not condone the behavior (99.99% of people you'd probably declare homophobic).

I also think that homophobia is an idiotic term, I have never met anyone who was afraid of gay people.

man on man love = sorta disgusting

girl on girl love = highly arousing (unless they look like men)

so given that its only a slight minus since i don't have to watch, and given the huge plus, i'm in favor as long as its not a large portion of cute girls giving up men forever.
